Tuesday 24th March 2009

The forecast was looking good for Tuesday morning so I thought it was time to go Fastline coal hunting again as I had been wanting to do this shot for some time. I set the alarm for 6am and awoke to find perfect clear blue skies. I grabbed my camera gear and set off for Ruffinswick located just East of Shrivenham.

Although it was glorious sunshine it was pretty cold especially in the shade of the trees where I was waiting and I had a long wait. It was booked about a 40 minute stop at Swindon but I had arrived early in case it missed it out but I should have realised with the amount of passenger traffic heading for London at that time of the day there was no way it was getting out early! So bang on time 66301 came thrashing through on the 6M18 Portbury – Ratcliffe, Nice!
