Todays outing is quite by chance as late last night I caught a message about a Crompton into Marylebone and after a hunt around the net I found some times for Joint Line Railtours trip ‘The Merry-Le-Bone’ from Worksop – Marylebone with an afternoon spin to Calvert and back!

Traction for the tour was quoted as WCRC Tractor and Crompton operating in Top’n'Tail formation. I decided to head over to Quainton Road for the outward working which was headed by 37516 and then dash to Calvert to grab a shot of the return with Slim Jim 33207 at the front and infact I made the dash so quickly I got a bonus shot of the tractor arriving at Calvert!

After a short run up to the Claydon loop the train reversed and the Crompton took over again for the run back to Marylebone via a stop at Quainton Road to pick up a few passengers who had decided to get off and visit the railway centre.

Monday 9th March 2009

I have a brand new location and a brand new livery for today although not the original plan. I was going to try for the early morning Fastline coal out of Avonmouth but I decided to check the emails before heading out which was good for two reason. The first it appeared the coal was not running and second I noted 59206 was at Calvert. I knew the next working would be the 6A58 Calvert – Northolt empty bins giving me a chance at my first DB Schenker liveried loco.

My knowledge of the Chiltern line is virtually non existent so I grabbed my Buckinghamshire street map and head off towards Princes Risborough. I knew the shot just South of the station would be OK but decided to see what else was about and head off towards Little Kimble on the single track section to Aylesbury. I found a couple of over bridges which were no good and then saw a footpath leading off from the village which crossed the line. I gave it a bash and I found the shot you see above which I am pretty pleased with.  Just for the record the sun came out about 20 seconds before the shot and disappeared as the first container passed me, very lucky indeed! :)

Sunday 21st September 2008

As they saying goes, ‘Make hay while the sunshines’ then I will do just that. Not much happens on a Sunday but as I still haven’t managed to get over to the Chiltern line for a single shot of the Wrexham and Shropshire Railways loco hauled workings I thought I would make the effort as it was so nice again. Due to engineering works either end of the line the first working was slightly different as it was originating from Raubon and terminating at London Paddington giving the track bashers something to go for.

As my knowledge of the Chiltern line is fairly limited I browsed a few galleries for locations and I found Fritwell near Bicester which looked pretty good so I set off, unfortunately there was an accident on the A34 at Oxford and I was delayed and thought I might miss the working but luckily it was running about 20 minutes late through Hatton. 67013 did the honours of hauling 1P50 Raubon – London Paddington running about 15 late as it passed me at Fritwell.
