I have a first and a last for you tonight, I recieved word that today would be last day in service for the Class 180 Adelantes with First Great Western. A pair did a couple of trips to Oxford in the morning before they were split and a single unit carried on for the rest of the day before finally working the final trip of the day the 1P87 Worcester Foregate Street – London Paddington.

This final trip to Paddington was going to be my target as it stopped at Didcot giving me a chance for a night phot. 180104 did the honours for the final working running bang on time as it departed Didcot. I don’t normally phot units and infact this is my first shot on the website but I thought I should record the occasion for the records.
It’s Thursday again and that means Colas 47 time! I made it out the first week but the weather was terrible at Kings Sutton and the shot was awful, last week the weather was glorious but I was back at work and this week the sun went in as the 47s passed me! Arrgh! Oh well, it looks like I’ll have to book some Thursdays off in the hope I get one right!

It was not a complete waste though as 10mins before the Colas 47s showed up I did manage to get a shot of a Freightliner in glorious light. Providing the power was 66591 working the 4O05 Birch Coppice – Southampton again at Kings Sutton.
Although the forecast wasn’t too hot this week I seem to be getting lucky with the weather and today was no exception! It wouldn’t be a week off without going for one of my favourite workings the Avon binliner and where else but Shrivenham! I had noted from the lists that 66584 was at Calvert this morning so I knew the Avon bins would definitely be running today after switching to an as required basis a couple of months ago.

I was all set for my standard wide shot from the bridge until 66584 rolled into the view, the foreground went into the shade of a cloud! I hurriedly switched my lens for my telephoto and fired the shutter before it got too close to the bridge. Even then I had to crop the image to what you see above but having 12 odd megapixels at hand does come in useful sometimes!
